Bex and Kirsty met at the start of their PhDs in ecology way back in 2006 and have been doing science-y things ever since. In mid-2017 they decided to start a business together, and less than a year later Unwrapped opened in Crookes, Sheffield. Unwrapped is inspired by our love of nature and all things eco. It's the shop we wished existed in Sheffield, because being environmentally friendly is often very difficult or expensive.
 

In our shop we have focused on accessibility - we are aware that not everyone can buy 100% organic food, and most of us are short of time and energy. Our shop provides most of the weekly essentials and caters to lots of budgets.

We are both vegetarian therefore Unwrapped is a fully vegetarian shop and also stocks a wide range of vegan products.

 

As two trained scientists we aim to be as evidence-based as possible when selecting the goods we sell. We know we can’t be perfect, but we will constantly reassess our customers’ needs and our environmental goals.

Once Unwrapped was open, we were soon joined by a team of staff members who are just as pasionate about the environment. As a team we do our best to make zero waste and ethical purchasing much easier for Sheffield folk. We are the green city after all!
